This cache is one of five caches placed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the RAF.
The Spitfire was designed by R.J. Mitchell, first flown in 1936 and used until 1961 when the last one one was retired from service (from the Irish Air Corps).
The RAF had a base here in Harrogate (RAF Harrogate) which was used for administration, medical training, the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) and receiving personnel after they had been abroad. The base was demolished in 1994.
The cache is a small tube with a small version of one of the most iconic, historic fighter aircraft in the world attached.
