This cache is one of five caches placed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the RAF.
The Avro York was a transport aircraft based on the Avro Lancaster. The York was used during the Berlin blockade of 1948 to 1949.
Another iconic aircraft was the Avro Vulcan bomber, operated by the RAF from 1956 until 1984.
The RAF had a base here in Harrogate (RAF Harrogate), see RAF 100 - Spitfire. They used a few of the hotels in Harrogate for temporary housing for the personnel. One of which is very close to this cache...
