Continuing our experience of different world cuisines, we head to the "Big Apple" to sample some of the local street fare. What could be more quintessentially New York then hot dogs or hamburgers?
New York City, situated where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean, comprises five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island. At its core is Manhattan, a densely populated borough that’s one of the world’s major commercial, financial and cultural centers. Its iconic sites include skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building, sprawling Central Park, the Broadway theater district and neon-lit Times Square. Harlem is a large neighbourhood in the northern section of Manhattan. Since the 1920s, Harlem which was named after the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands, has been known as a major African American residential, cultural and business center.
