Whats A Marsh?
A marsh is a type of wetland that is dominated by grasses rather than woody type tree species, it is usually a naturally flooded area and is found along many streams rivers and lakes. marshes are more efficient than other wetlands as they can absorb major rainfall. that is why they are mostly found around lakes and streams where they naturally are partially underwater. it prevents flooding and overflow by sucking up the water like a sponge.
Marsh Restoration
Some areas of the world have already lost 90% of their wetlands, including marshes. They have been drained to create agricultural land or filled to accommodate urban sprawl. Restoration is the process of returning marshes to the landscape to replace those lost in the past. Restoration can be done on a large scale, such as by allowing rivers to flood naturally in the spring, or on a small scale by returning wetlands to urban landscapes.
Logging Tasks
1. View the marsh on the rivers edge, does the grass grow on an angle?
