THE NAPOLEONIC TREASURE

If you’ve ever been to Normandy, you’ve probably visited Cherbourg and seen the commanding Napoleon monument that overlooks this port city in northern France. While dismantling the statue during a restoration project, workers found a chest hidden in the base of the monument. It contained gold coins stashed there in 1858.
