Bayreuth rocks - (Ge)Steine in der Stadt

Dieser EarthCache basiert auf einem geologischen Stadtspaziergang, der vom Geopark Bayern-Böhmen unter der Führung von Richard Regner angeboten wurde. Ich habe mir erlaubt, die 29 Stationen dieses Spaziergangs etwas abzukürzen :-) . Von der Fränkischen Schweiz über das Fichtelgebirge bis hin nach Böhmen werden vom Frühling bis in den Herbst hinein geologische Führungen zu allen möglichen Themen angeboten. Ein Blick ins Programm, und natürlich auch eine Teilnahme, lohnt sich!

6. BEW Kundencenter: Fossilien

7. Depot: Muschelfossilien

8. Rotmaincenter: Granit, Syenit

9. Drehstein: Granit

10. Juwelier Böhnlein: Migmatit

11. Juwelier Engelmann: Granitsäule mit besonders schönen Feldspaten

12. Wittelsbacher Brunnen: Travertin, Lumachelle

13. La-Spezia-Platz: Basalt

• Am besten Ausdruck dieses PDFs. Im PDF findet ihr auch die Fragen und die Logbedingungen.

Achtung: Dieser Cache ist keinesfalls als Nachtcache geeignet! Das Rotmaincenter ist nachts nicht zugänglich und du wirst auch Schwierigkeiten haben, alle Details der Gesteine zu erkennen!

Plant bitte etwa 2 Stunden für die Runde ein. Die reine Laufstrecke ist nicht so weit, aber ihr müsst Antworten auf einige Fragen finden. Außerdem könntet ihr durch Geschäfte oder Eisdielen abgelenkt werden.

Wenn ihr nur einen Tag in Bayreuth seid, ist dieser Cache nicht so gut geeignet, da er weder an der Stadtkirche noch am Richard-Wagner-Museum oder am Festspielhaus vorbei führt. Nur an Stage 12 kommt ihr am Markgräflichen Opernhaus (UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe) vorbei.

This earthcache is based on a guided geology sightseeing walk, which was organized by the Geopark Bayern-Böhmen and Richard Regner. This geocache will show you 14 of the 29 stops that we did in that day :-). From spring to autumn the Geopark organizes guided geology tours in Franconian Switzerland, Fichtel Mountains and Bohemia. Check out their internet site, they have a few english tours as well. It’s definetely worth it!

8. Rotmaincenter: granite, syenite

9. Rotating stone: granite

10. Juwelier Böhnlein: migmatite

11. jewellery Engelmann: granite column with beautiful feldspars

12. Wittelsbach fountain: travertine, coquina

13. La-Spezia-Platz: basalt

What you need:

• It’s a good idea to print this PDF. (at the moment a mix of translated + Google Translate, but better than no english version :-) . In the PDF you will find also the questions and the log requirements.

Attention: This cache is definetely not a night cache! You can’t access the Rotmaincenter at night and you will have difficulties to see all the details that are necessary to answer the questions!

Please plan with 2 hours for this cache. The walk itself is not that long but you will need to find many answers, and you could be distracted by various shops or ice cream cafés :-) .

If you’re in Bayreuth for just one day, this cache is probably not for you. It will bring you neither to the church nor to the Richard-Wagner-museum or to the festival house. Only at stage 12 you will the the margravial opera house which is a UNESCO world heritage site.
