Yes, the day BEFORE Australia Day. It is a Friday, in the school holidays.
Australia Day is celebrated each year on the anniversary of the first fleet from Britain landing in Sydney Cove. It is a public holiday, and the significance of the day differs among the nation’s population.
However you choose to celebrate Australia Day, let's do it a little different. The event is a lunch meetup at
- Rosellas Cafe
- 8 Canyon Parade, Springbrook - see map below
- S 28° 13.241 E 153° 16.357
- Friday January 25th 2019
- 12 noon to 1.30pm
- Buy Your Own Lunch if you are hungry. 😊
Its next door lookout (good for Parking) is a glorious spot, with magnificent waterfall views, and panoramic views to the Gold Coast. The cafe serves beautiful baked goods, rich organic coffee (with alternate milks) and fresh meals including vegetarian and vegan. There are a few easy caches to gather on the way there (or back).

For anyone interested in making a day of it, a small group is gathering at the Tallanbana Picnic Area (S 28 13.480 E 153 16.260) at 9am to tackle the 4K walk to the three Herbz caches Blackfellow (GC1HRN4), Rock-n-Roll (GC1HRMV) and No Worries (GC1N6FM) on the Twin Falls Circuit Track beforehand.
What more could a geocacher want? A lunch time event with fellow geocachers in a beautifully picturesque location, with the option to grab a few geocaches, all while celebrating our national day! Gotta be a beauty!
As an afterthought, we will also be doing some local caching after lunch (maybe in the Mudgeeraba area), but meeting up again for a group dinner at the Charm Thai Restaurant, 388 Tamborine Oxenford Rd at Upper Coomera at around 6pm. Optional.
