Tsukiji Hongwanji was built in Yokoyama-cho near Asakusa as a branch temple of Nishi-hongwanji temple in 1617, and it was called "Edo Asakusa Gobo". Although the main hall was destroyed by the Great Fire of Meireki in 1657, the reconstruction to the former place was not permitted by the Edo shogunate, and the sea near Hatchobori was subsidized as a substitute place. Followers in Tsukudajima took the lead in reclaiming the ocean and building the land (the origin of the place name of Tsukiji), the main hall was rebuilt in 1679, and it became known as "Tsukiji Gobo". Although it was not destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, it was destroyed again due to the fire that occurred soon. The present main hall with the motif of the ancient Indian style was completed in 1934 and was designated as an important cultural asset in 2014.

築地本願寺は、元和3年（1617年）に西本願寺の別院として浅草近くの横山町に建立され、「江戸浅草御坊」と呼ばれていました。明暦3年（1657年）の明暦の大火により本堂を焼失しましたが、江戸幕府から旧地への再建が許されず、代替地として八丁堀沖の海上が下付されました。そこで佃島の門徒が中心となり、海を埋め立てて土地を築き（築地の地名の由来）、延宝7年（1679年）に本堂が再建され、「築地御坊」と呼ばれるようになりました。 大正12年（1923年）の関東大震災では、地震による倒壊は免れましたが、すぐ後に起こった火災により再び伽藍を焼失しました。現在の古代インド様式をモチーフとした本堂は、昭和9年（1934年）に竣工し、平成26年（2014年）に重要文化財に指定されています。
開門時間は5時から24時まで、本堂参拝時間は6時から17時まで（4～9月は17:30まで）です。
この築地本願寺の近くにキャッシュを設置しました。マグルが多いのでご注意ください。キャッシュにはペンが入っていませんのでお持ちください。
