In November of 2018, a scooter showed up out of no where and was parked in a spot near the cache. The residents of Laureate Park (LP) became intrigued as the scooter sat un-moved for days, weeks, nearly a month. In the spirit of the holiday season, one, unnamed resident, decided to put holiday lights one what seemd to be a new fixture to the entrance to our nieghborhood. As time went on, more decorations were added by the resdents. Then the selfies started. Everyone wanted...NEEDED...to get over to the scooter so that they could take a selfie with the newly named LP Holiday Scooter. Alas, the fun quickly came to an end. The holiday fun that the LP community was having with the abandoned scooter drew the attention of local law enforcement (we LOVE our cops!). They were compelled to place an abandoned vehicle citation on Scoot. By running the tag, they tracked down the owner, and the LP residents found out that Scoot's owner was driving to the Orlando VA Hospital nearby when Scoot broke down and the veteran owner didn't have the means to get it fixed. The LP residents lept into action along with local developer Tavistock to try to help the owner fix the scooter and make the holidays bright for all. What started as good-hearted fun turned into heart-warming love for our community and our Nation's Veterans. This cache, metalic green in color just like LP Holiday Scooter, is placed in honor of this special time.
