Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of six caches that no longer will lead to a final cache (so ignore the codes in the logs). The basis of each cache is another genre of music. Please replace the cache as I placed it so it does not get muggled or ruined by weather. Giant Steps was performed by jazz musician John Coltran and was released in 1960.  It was Coltrane's 5th studio record.  The recording exemplifies Coltrane's melodic phrasing that came to be known as sheets of sound, and features his explorations into third-related chord movements that came to be known as Coltrane changes.  Jazz musicians continue to use the Giant Steps chord progression as a practice piece and as a gateway into modern jazz improvisation.  Giant Steps went on to become a jazz standard and in 2004, was choosen by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry.
