Geocache Description:

Behind a large stone mansion built in the seventeenth century, & surrounded by landscaped gardens, lies a strange well & a series of natural springs. Shrouded by folklore and rumors of ghostly sightings, the Egyptian Spring in Hartwell is sure to keep you entertained for the length of your visit.

An Historic Geocache - Classed as 'Early' (2002)

This cache is now in it's third [now fourth!] generation after being removed from it's hiding place twice [3x], so we thought it was about time we tried something a little different. You must follow your GPS to the coords at the top of this page where you will be greated by the Egyptian Spring itself & then use the following runes to decipher a final resting place. Make sure to take a print out with you otherwise this cache will become impossible...

Once you have decrypted the line of symbols, use [the letters above them (ignore the first N and final P!) to amend the co-ords to the new location. E=Minus - P=Plus - =0 - I=0. - T=0 - =6 - M=West - Y=0 - =0 - N=0 - A=North - O=4 - Now you should have] the answer to locate the final [micro] cache which is only a stones throw away. There is no need to jump any walls; footpaths will take you to where you need to be. [The cache isn't within the churchyard.]

Hartwell is so-called due to a local myth that when Invading this country, Julius Caesar visited the springs here and saw a hart drinking from the water. This is just one of many stories which are told about this place, one other tells of a headless horseman who rides the area. King Louis XVIII of France stayed at the house in the past, perhaps he comes back to see whats going on now-a-days?... Enjoy, Dan & Pid [& Simply Paul.]
