Panola Mountain State Park was established in 1974 as Georgia's first "Conservation Park" to protect the 100 acre pristine granite outcrop that is its namesake. Because of its unique ecology and unspoiled beauty, Panola Mountain has since become a registered National Natural Landmark and is part of the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area.
What is a Little Free Library? A Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community. These Little Libraries have been called “mini-town squares.” They inspire a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world.

This nature preserve, like other Georgia woodlands, has ticks during all but the winter season. Take precautions that include wearing a hat, a long sleeve shirt, and long pants with legs tucked into socks. Wear light colored clothing for ease of spotting ticks, especially deer ticks that are the size of a pin head. Use bug spray with the chemical DEET and especially spray around the ankle area.
