Today Rockwood is visited by dozens of people every day and used as a favorite hiking/walking site. Many artists come to take photographs or paint. Runners come for a regular jog or to train for a big race. Equestrians spend the day out on the carriage roads with their horses. Birders come to view and listen to the year-round and migratory birds. School groups come for outdoor lessons or playtime. In the summer, some picnic on Laughing Hill; in the winter, some snowshoe and cross-country ski. Photo shoots and film shoots love Rockwood, and it has been featured in The Blacklist, and many other TV shows, films and commercials.
From this cache location, you’ll have a panoramic view of the Hudson and will gain an understanding of why Rockefeller might have chosen this location for his majestic summer home. You’re looking for a camoed bison.
