The Garden Heights memorial to World War II veterans was erected in 1943 by the Woodrow Wilson Civic Association to honor those who served from the Garden heights and Lakemont Terrace neighborhoods. It was revitalized in 1981 by a group of concerned citizens lead by Lt. Col. Catherine M. Ryan, whose father helped in the original construction.
