Som i de fleste europeiske countires ble kaffe i Norge først populært blant de rike på begynnelsen av det 18. århundre. Selv om Norge var et relativt fattig land, ble det drevet av Danmark da den hadde fordeler. i dette tilfellet mange billige java. Kaffe serveres typisk svart til frokost, og med dessert etter middagen. Nordmenn inviterer også ofte folk over spesielt til kaffe, serveres med kaker og bakverk. Den gjennomsnittlige norske drikker nesten 2 kopper kaffe om dagen, noe som betyr at omtrent 5 millioner mennesker i landet forbrukte en samlet 36.472.000 kg i 2012. Hvis du noen gang er i landlige Norge, ikke glem å prøve "karsk", en cocktail med svakt brygget kaffe og en heftig hjelp av vodka eller moonshine. If you are ever in rural Norway don’t forget to try "karsk", a cocktail made with weakly brewed coffee and a hefty helping of vodka or moonshine. Don’t worry, if it's too strong you can always light it aflame to burn off some of the alcohol!
