This is a Vermont challenge cache. To be eligible to log the find, you must sign the log and have at least 100 finds in any one US state (other than Vermont) PLUS at least 20 finds of any kind in Vermont. The hide itself is a D1 T1, (a little tougher in winter), but you earn extra points for perseverence.
For some, this will be the entry point to this series of century challenges, which are all somewhere along Rt 100 in VT, Route 100 is a scenic byway which runs north and south for almost the entire length of the state, often along the Green Mountains and through some lovely small towns. All of the challenge caches require 100 of something, and all require some Vermont caching as well. As this one is close to Vermont's southern border, this cache is an invitation to those traveling north from Mass. If you are from the US but not from VT, you probably have 100 finds in your home state, so all you have to do before leaving VT is log 20 finds plus this one, (and prove your qualifications with Project-GC's handy checker). If you are from VT, the challenging part for you will be to get 100 caches in another state. And if you are not from the US, but enjoy US caching, you are welcome too. One hundred caches is a statement of commitment to caching within a state. There are many multiple state challenge caches, and there will be more in this series.
The majority of the caches in this challenge series are in central Vermont and north to Stowe, but plans are to populate them along other parts of Route 100. A few, like this, do not require 100 VT caches. However, for many that is the first requirement. So, as you continue to cache in VT, once you hit that 100th VT cache, many others of this series will be within your reach.
The hides are not intended to be challenging, but the qualifications can be. In most cases, these challenges can be accomplished by anyone who enjoys travelling and caching, and has perseverance.
THIS CHALLENGE: In order to log the cache, you must have already found at least 100 caches of any type in another US state (besides Vermont), plus at least 20 from Vermont. In order to prove this, you must use the provided Checker:
Post your proof online. You may sign the physical log any time you are in the area, and log online when you have finished the challenge.
They get harder from here on! Keep traveling along Route 100, and enjoy a great American road trip, with some challenges along the way!
A hearty congratulations to Moonfox for FTF!
