YEP !
a new cico cache. our 2nd.
an eclectic little stroll, in the good tradition of ‘broodje brussel’ and bruksel binnenstebuiten. an hour if you want, a few exploring and tasty hours if you like !
the listing and the cache
the listing takes you by the hand and all you have to do is to read carefully and enjoy everything you come across. the clues and colours you need to remember are written in bold. directions to get to the next wp are written in the formula, or in italic
the pictures are details from different waypoints, they can help you, but, they are NOT in the right order ! not every wp has a picture neither ...
some words in the text are hyperlinked. there you get more information on that item, and ofcourse, exploring is encouraged, but not necessary for completing your task ... so, just follow the text, note every number asked, as you need them to get to the next waypoint and, pay special attention to the colours. keep ‘m in the right order.
the walk
wp1
N50 50.272
E004 22.091
an inviting starting point, but no time for a drink yet ... for now, we just look around. you see A trees. and I mean BIG trees, in the middle of the square. the ones you like when you have a drink on a hot sunny day ... okay ? let’s go to :
wp2
N50 50.(A*100)-46
E004 22.(A*100)-56
here you can rest a bit on one of the 20 benches. when you walk around the park to find them all, and you’ re really quiet, ánd lucky, maybe you can spot one of the animals of the pics (not so many animals there and I don’t mean the dinosaur). it seems it found itself a fishy spot here. but, let ‘s have a closer look at these benches ... A x B are painted in your first colour, the rest of the benches are in the 2nd colour. a total of 20. check ? doublecheck ! we continue to
wp3
N50 50.AB0
E004 2(B-1).(A+B-1)24
and are passing by a most interesting ’information desk’, keep it on your right-hand side.
once arrived on the calculated coordinates, in the heart of ... ! ‘station europe’ gives you the 3th colour.
right across the street, you can read that one of the founders held his historical speech (in front of the UN), in 1948. but, when did he die ? it gives you FEDC.
wp4
N50 50.F82
E004 2(B-1).(D-C)88
this building gets you even more into history. absolutely worth a visit, but, we stay outside and have a look into the sky. so, even if the gate is closed ... you ‘ll manage. the front facade gives you the 4th colour, the side ones the 5th.
wp5
N50 50.F(A-B)F
E004 2(B-1).(C*2)40
you recognize the fence, okay, but the streetnumber gives you GHH. and that is what we need ;-)
wp6
N : -E(D-F)
E : +F(A+G)F
you can choose how to get there, but, once arrived, when you turn towards the S(SE), you can see the same number twice, written on a blue plate. this number gives you KLK. some more numbers are written on a two-coloured sign. the 6th colour is the inner one, the 7th colour is the outer edge.
now we go to ...
wp7
FH(L-H+K) m towards C(H+K)(H+L) °.
on the statue you see here, in front of you, the seated figure on the left, is holding a ... ?
amphora M = 1
painter’s palette M = 2
bunch of grapes M = 3
the name, written on the front gives you N (A=1, ...count until 1 digit). now, let’s do it the easy way, and find a way ‘down’town ... maybe SE.
wp8
aiming to get to : N(L-M)0 m towards MLK °.
look for number (G+H)M ! more info on the house you can get when you google it (street+n°) on ‘irismonument.be’. very informative, but for now, we are only interested in the number of black, iron balconies ... that is your P
from here, we continue further down
wp9
after 50m turn left and continue approx. 100m until you reach the next street. pay attention when you want to cross it ! and just keep going in the same NE direction for another 150m. then turn right and walk the last 130m until you arrive at wp9 !
the tiles in the entrance hall give you Q different colours. only one of them (in the following list) is not there... that’s yr colour #8 : is it black ? yellow ? or green ?
wp10
N50 (P+N)(K+L+P).DE(Q-K)
E004 2P.(E-N)(Q+N)0
we ‘re almost done ... when we reach this crowdy spot. here you can see two arches. each one is held by R metallic pillars. these pillars have two colours : green, and your 9th one.
and now, ... get yourself a warm, sunny, or shady spot. and have a refreshing drink, ... because ... indeed :
IT IS FORMULA TIME ;-) YippieYippie ! Woohooo ! KwabKwab !
no checker, though ...
the final

the pictures

the conclusion
OK ! if you do this on whatever ‘street or view’ and you ‘ll manage to get to the container ... WAAAW ! but you ‘ve missed the action ?!? being outside ! with your nose wandering in the air ... that ‘s what it’s all about ;-) so, let’s hope you liked it.
the important note
it is a Letterbox Hybrid ! the final container is supposed to contain a stamp ... got it ?
please, don’t spoil it ! just put a copy in your personal letterbox stamp collection or book, and leave the original stamp at GZ ! keeping it as much fun for the next one. thanks !
and most of all : pay xtra attention when you leave GZ ! replace the cache in exactly the same shape, position, disguise, form, color, ... as you found it ! no wires visible ? check ! and thanks !
