Courthouse - Tralee Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OrienTheory: This was a cache I loved since it was one of my earlier hides. Sad to see it go but I just can't foresee myself maintaining it for the long run.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located by the courthouse in Tralee Town Centre. This area is extremely busy during the day so remember to practice stealth.

Designed by William Vitruvius Morrison and built in 19835, Tralee Courthouse sits along Ashe Street in the Town Centre of Tralee.

On the sides of the courthouse stands 2 memorials: One for the Kerrymen killed in the Crimean War (1854-1856) and one for the Kerrymen killed in the Indian Rebellion (1857). The monuments to both conficts boast sandstone pliths, limestone pedestals and surmounted by cannons.

On the 28th of November 2020, just a few metres from the posted coordinates, a building partially collapsed. 5 workers were injured, and 1 was killed - identified is 68 year old Tom Ross. News article of the incident here
