Geocache Description:

Union Missionary Baptist Church was built here in 1845. This cache is hidden near the church cemetery in remembrance of my ancestors that are buried here. Please be respectful of your surroundings. You do not have to enter the cemetery fence to retrieve the cache.

Union Cemetery is an old peaceful rural cemetery that is now maintained by the U.S. Forest Service.  The community that surrounded this rural cemetery is now gone, mostly as a result of the Forest Service purchasing the land, homes, and farms that surrounded it during the 1930's when the Oakmulgee Division of the Talladega National Forest was created.

My great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and great-great-great grandfather Wiggins are buried here. My 4th great-grandparents Greathouse are buried here as well, along with numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. Today was my first visit here, and I decided to hide a cache to mark the occasion. Thanks for visiting!
