I was hiking on Glendora Ridge Motorway a few weeks ago and felt like it could use a few more caches. Instead of placing them along the main trail I decided to place them on the high spots that the trail goes around in several places.
These high spots are relatively easy to get to with trails leading up from the main road. They aren’t all that high and there’s always at least two ways up. It will be easier from one direction than the other but even the hard way isn’t really all that difficult. The main trail is also easy hiking most of the way.
All the caches are placed near the high points at the bases of bushes. At this time of year it’s pretty easy going. In the summer when the plants grow it could be more difficult. I wore shorts and my shins got a lot of scratches from the plants in a few spots, but I’ve had worse. These caches are fairly out of the way but please throw a little natural material on top to help keep them hidden from the occasional stray muggle. I didn't see any PO but that doesn't mean it's not there.
Parking is available on Glendora Mountain Road at N34 10.675 W117 50.798. Occasionally GMR is closed and you obviously will not be able to get to the parking area. You can also hike up Colby Trail from the end of Loraine Avenue all the way to the ridge. I’ve never done that so can’t say how easy or difficult that would be. Maybe I will one of these days.
As with most hides in places like this there will only be a few cachers that are willing to make the effort to find them. For those that do I hope you enjoy the hike and the cache!
