I wonder how many people remember when this road ended a few hundred yards north of this spot, about where the entrance to the shopping center is? There was a mound of earth and some scrubby trees, a small trail that went to where the intersection of Dunfield and Walther is today. There was no stop sign on Dunfield, because there was no traffic from the left. The 90 acres that is Oak Crest opened in 1995. Prior to that the land was just a collection of dirt roads and trails with a few old buildings still standing. The area was a hangout for a sometimes motley crew of youngsters.
A few people have told me there is an old forgotten cemetery in the woods behind the tennis courts near GZ. I have looked for it a couple of times, but have found no evidence of a cemetery. There is what looks like the foundation of a small building, maybe a shed, but even that is almost invisible now. If anyone is inclined to search for the cemetery and makes a find, let me know.
NOTE: I was contacted by local caching legend, Legendpilot (see what I did there), regarding a cache he had at the grave in the woods. The cache was named, Lil' Miss Lonely, and was archived in March 2008.
This cache should be an easy find for people on a streak, or needing to fill a calendar day. Muggles may be present, so use stealth. Please do not stop on the road. BYOP.
Congratulations to JL826 and Fyregypsy for FTF on Christmas Eve.
