[EN] This Earthcache highlights the presence of xenoliths in the granite of the fountain usually overlooked due to its location.

[LT] Suradęs keletą tokių lobių su ksenolitais Jungtinėje Karalystėje sugalvojau paslėpti šį EC Kauno centre, kadangi šis ksenolitas yra labai geras jų pavyzdys, nesunkiai randamas, tačiau daugumos likęs nepastebėtas
[EN] After seeing a few caches in the UK focusing on this example I thought to place this EC in the center of Kaunas as there is a fine example not very hidden and probably missed by many.

[EN] Firstly, a bit on the materials:
[LT] Didžiausias iš matomų ksenolitų yra ant vienos iš atraminių granitinio (en: granite) fontano kojų. Granitas yra vulkaninės kilmės uoliena, kuris gali būti visokiausių spalvų, priklausomai nuo jo sudėties; šiuo atveju, granitas yra rožinis dėl jame didelio ortoklazo (en: orthoclase) kiekio. Granitas dažniausiai savo sudėtyje turi kitų mineralų dalelių, tokių kaip putnagas (en: feldspar), kvarcas (en: quartz) ir žėrutis (en: mica). Štai kas granitui duoda unikalią ir grūdėtą struktūrą.
[EN] The biggest of the xenolith is on one of the supporting legs of the fountain, made of granite. Granite is an igneous rock which comes in all types of colours depending on its composition; in this case it is pink due to high amounts of orthoclase. Granite usually contains grains of other rocks such as feldspar, quartz and mica. This is what gives granite its unique, and eponymous, grainy nature.

Ksenolitai / Xenoliths
[LT] Ksenolitas yra „svetima uoliena“, įtraukta ir fosilizuota į didesnę vulkaninės kilmės uolieną jos formavimosi metu. Ksenolitai dažniausiai yra kitokios spalvos ir tekstūros negu juos supanti uoliena, tai juos padaro lengviau pastebimus. Fontane yra vienas didelis ksenolitas, nueikite ir paieškokite, jis yra žemiau.
[EN] A xenolith is a 'foreign rock' that has been engulfed and fossilised in a larger volcanic rock during its formation. Xenoliths are most commonly a different colour and texture to their surrounding rock, making them easily noticeable. There is one big xenolith on the fountain, go and find it its low down.
