Geocache Description:

I Have Had An Earthcache Like This In Mind For A While, And I Finally Found A Spot For It!

What is Weathering?

Weathering is the breaking down of rocks, soil, and minerals as well as wood and artificial materials through contact with the Earth's atmosphere, water, and biological organisms. Weathering occurs in situ, that is, in the same place, with little or no movement, and thus should not be confused with erosion, which involves the movement of rocks and minerals by agents such as water, ice, snow, wind, waves and gravity and then being transported and deposited in other locations

At This Location We Are Going To Talk About Weathering On Roads.

This Location is unique as the weathering is very strong here.

Here, We Focus On Mechanical Weathering

Mechanical weathering is when the water seeps into the cracks of the pavement in the road and then the tempature drops below freezing. the water will then turn into what we know as ice and harden. the issue then becomes when the ice shifts and cracks the road as it melts, and or gets larger or disturbed.
