Geocache Description:

Cache is located in Cornwall Park, which is a large park located in Bellingham, Washington, off of the Guide Meridian.  It is one of the oldest parks in Bellingham, Washington, and it was named after Pierre B. Cornwall, who managed a coal mine in Bellingham, Washington until it closed in 1878. Cornwall and an association of investors formed the Bellingham Bay Improvement Company (BBIC) The company was mostly composed of wealthy California businessmen who were investing heavily into Bellingham with the vision that it would one day become an important urban center for commerce and trade.  The BBIC invested in several diverse enterprises such as shipping, coal, mining, railroad construction, real estate sales and utilities.  Even though their dreams of turning Bellingham into a Pacific Northwest metropolis never came to fruition, the BBIC made an immense contribution to the economic development of Bellingham.

Park in the parking lot near the playground, but park on the north side. Walk north and take the trail to the right and look for two very tall and slender cedar trees at the north end of the park.  The first tree is about 15 feet off of the trail. Look at the base of the second tree and check behind the small fir tree branch and leaves. To the right of that tree there is a small cedar tree about six feet tall and there are holly branches nearby.
