Yawatahama has long reclaimed the ocean and spread the land. By the time the Meiji era started, the reclamation progressed to this point, "Kyu minato" was built. From 1979, this inner port was also landfilled, and now Yawatahama City Hall and others are built.
八幡浜は古くから海を埋め立てて土地を広げてきました。明治の始め頃にこの付近まで埋め立てが進み、旧港が造られました。昭和54年からは、この内港も埋め立てられていき現在は八幡市役所などが建っています。
