Here's how the UTM grid system works: ►The distance between two adjacent grid lines is 1 kilometre (1000 metres). ►Along the bottom/top of the topo maps, the numbers under/over each grid mark represent the number of kilometres that tick mark is East of the start of the zone (“Easting”). These numbers increase as you move further East. ►On the sides of the topo maps, the numbers for each grid line represent how many kilometres that line is North of the equator (assuming you're in the northern hemisphere) (“Northing”). These numbers increase as you move further North. The UTM grid lines on a topo map thus allow you to determine absolute position of map features in metres relative to a reference. The UTM grid position of a location on the map is specified by two grid coordinates: “Easting” (distance Eastwards in meters) and “Northing” (distance Northwards in metres). Many geocachers in Canada use degrees/minutes/seconds instead of UTM.

This is a more difficult puzzle than the others in the Compass Rose GeoArt because, unless you know how to use UTM, you will need to find a converter to degrees/minutes/seconds.
