Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide Geocaching community and is a way for the geocaching community to take care of the areas we enjoy while geocaching. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

You'll get a smiley for your participation in a CITO event and it also has it's own icon. Though of course, the real reward lies in giving back to our environment! :D

When:
Along side a local group Royal Canal Clean-up (who are very enthusiastic for us to join them!), we will be supporting in picking up litter/rubbish/trash along the Royal Canal starting on the tow path near Clonsilla train station (starting coordinates).
We will meet at 11.00am sharp and work our way east, where we will meet at 1pm for tea/coffee for those that participated in the clean up!

We expect to walk about 4-5km one way during the CITO. There may be muggles joining us and there will be other groups on the canal that day, so make sure to meet at the starting coordinates on time, and look for the yellow Geocaching Ireland high vis!

What to Bring:
Basic litter picking equipment will be available but may be limited so we'd encourage attendees to come prepared (if possible) - this could include Garden Gloves or a Litter Picker or Extra Long poles/nets.

Everyone will be expected to wear a Hi Vis Vest - there will be some available but if you have one, please wear it.

It is strongly advised to wear appropriate sturdy footwear (as this is a canal towpath) and depending on the weather that day, rain gear or suncream. Please note there will be nowhere to store bags whilst we work.

Staying hydrated is also important!

Getting there:
There is plenty of public transport options (we are meeting at a train station afterall), which is recommended as it is better for the environment :) There is limited parking at Clonsilla Train Station.
