This cache is placed near Woodpecker road.
A lovely walk up the creek will give you ample opportunity to spot a lot more birds as well as game.
It is named after the Goldentailed Woodpecker Campethera abingoni
You may also find this beautiful Woodpecker in this area.
I have seen it. It does not call that often but you can identify them by sound, if you hear something like a nail being extracted from wood.
As for the Afrikaans speaking people.
n Engelse Woodpecker is n Speg in Afrikaans.
Die een waarna ons hier verwys is die Goudstert Speg.
They eat ants, termites and their eggs and pupae, which they get from dead branches and underneath bark on the trees they forage on. You can easily hear them tapping with their beaks on these to get them out.
Be careful of poison ivy in the area,
I suggest closed shoes and perhaps long pants.
