Geocache Description:

Poleg domačih in običajnih vrst drevja (hrast, smreka, zeleni bor, jesen), se park odlikuje z redkimi tujimi vrstami (močvirski taksodij Taxodium distichum, tulipovec Lyriodendron tulipifera, gledičija Glepaniculata, kavkaška jelka Abies nordmanniana, kanadska čuga Tsuga canadensis, čopasti taksodijevec Sciadopitys verticulata, magnolija Magnolia macrophylla).

(EN) Viltus is a manor near Maribora. He is the successor to the old castle Viltus on the nearby hill, and his name is derived from the German words wildhaus. The new mansion was built on a plain near the Drava River. The construction is completed in several phases, and it is finally similar in the second half of the 19th century, which is so popular historical history, which refers to the romantic neo-Norman style. The manor is therefore architecturally very versatile, based on several organic vents, although it is completely different in its orientation in orientation. It fascinates you with a multitude of towers and towers, and above all a rugged, large tower that controls the whole building and gives it a new component. It was once well equipped - this is rarely preserved photographs. He sang by marble fireplaces, some of the sculptural sculptures (eg Damino Bust) and, above all, carved wooden ceilings. The mansion was set up in a large and well-kept English-style park, planted with many rare, native and non-native species (among which some exotic trees stand out) tree species. Today the manor has no real purpose. It is a public place and therefore a frequent target of hooliganism. The result is an unsustainable deterioration. The thing was worsened by the new road that cut the park for two and thus alienated it from the castle. The castle park extends around the castle. Its design is divided into several parts: orange, flower garden, lawn, tree park, pond, forest..

Park represents a quality example of the arrangement at the transition from the 19th to the 20th centuries in a romantic style with the elements of eclecticism and exotism and is important from the dendrological (rare exotic species) aspect and the garden and architectural historical point of view. In addition to native and conventional tree species (oak, spruce, green pine, autumn), the park is distinguished by rare foreign species (marshy taxodium Taxodium distichum, Lyriodendron tulipifera tulips, Glepaniculata view, Abies nordmanniana Cauliflower, Tsuga canadensis canadensis, verticulata, Magnolia macrophylla magnolia).
