Rabbit-Proof Fence is a 2002 Australian drama film based on a true story about two mixed race Aboriginal girls who were forcibly taken from their mother and placed in the "Moore River Native Settlement" north of Perth, Western Australia, in 1931. The film follows the Aboriginal girls, on their adventures as they walk for nine weeks along 1,500 miles (2,400 km), navigating themselves back home to their Aboriginal community at Jigalong using the Australian rabbit-proof fence, (the longest fence in the world).
