Find the co-ordinates in this paragraph about the ASTROLABE.
An astrolabe is a navigational instrument that predates the sextant. It looks like a model of the celestial sphere. The word, “astrolabe” comes from the Greek and means "the one who catches the heavenly bodies”. Using an astrolabe, astronomers and navigators could make quite accurate measurements of the following things:
N 44° 20.753' W 77° 52.524'
- position of celestial objects
- measure the time of the night (or of the day, using it as a mobile sundial or, more accurately by measuring the altitude of the sun)
- measure the time of the year,
- compute what part of the sky is visible at any time,
- determine the altitude of any object over the horizon,
- and determine the current latitude
