Yessirreee. Nothing to find here except a natural wonder carved out by some of the highest tides in the world. In order to claim this virtual cache you must have someone take a picture of you with a clear view of the Hole in the background. You must be holding up your GPS in the picture.
Now how do you find the spot... Well if you want to do it the easier way you can probably go to the Hole in the Wall Campground, pay them the entrance fee and get directions to the Hole from them.
Of course if you don't want to pay someone just to walk across their campsite here are the other directions the locals take. Take the main road (yes there is only one main road in Grand Manan) until you see a church and a road called Cemetery Lane. Take this road up and around the church and stick to it as it turns into a dirt road and then more of a path. Park in front of the last house off the side of the road as much as possible. Walk down to the beach from here using the same road. When you get to the beach follow the trail up to the right (you will see the sign). It is a well worn trail but its not an easy hike. Follow the trail all the way to the Hole.
Take in the view of this natural wonder and don't forget to bring that camera.
I have adopted this cache from Doctor Livingstone who was a fantastic geocacher back in the early days of the sport. The virtual cache is a dying breed of Geocaching, having been in place longer than almost all of you have been geocaching. Like earthcaches there is no actual cache to find but you do have to complete the requirement. Just showing up or claiming that you showed up does not count. When you log a find you MUST upload a photo with your log (don't email or message it to me) that has you and your gps or other members of your geocaching team in front of the Hole in the Wall. Photos that just show the Hole in the Wall DO NOT QUALIFY!!! If you are geocaching alone and don't know the proper kind of photo then look at Scorch's log from 8/29/14 to see an acceptable solo photo. This type of photo, with a gps in an outstretched arm (or a "thumbs up" if your phone/camera is your gps), is only good for ONE find as it indicates that the person logging was alone.
No ‘finds’ will be accepted without a qualifying photo; PERIOD, NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Non compliant logs WILL be deleted so READ THE REQUIREMENTS!!!
