Geocache Description:

Caution: there are steep, eroding cliffs nearby. Please stay well back from them. The cache is not anywhere near the bank.

This lighthouse is the third lighthouse at this location. The first was built in 1851 and destroyed by a fire in 1883. A new lighthouse was built that year and remained in service until the current structure was built in 1961. The first lighthouse keeper was Robert King, who was succeeded by Charles Rathburn in 1870. When Rathburn died in 1879, his wife took over as lighthouse keeper, a position she held until 1921.

Congrats to Nova Man on being FTF, and thanks to art1fire (who was STF) for adopting this cache.
