Hidey Hole in Highgate Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: I am regretfully archiving this cache since unfortunately there has been no action to restore it, or any communication from the cache owner, Devlin- Brown, requesting additional time.

An ample opportunity has been provided for the Cache Owner to respond, but since this opportunity has been ignored, I can only conclude that the cache has been abandoned.

Caches archived under these circumstances are unable to be Unarchived, and this location is now available for the placement of a new cache, by somebody else.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the Lincoln Street Ventilation Stack which built in 1935 by the Metropolitan Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage Department. It stands at 38 meters high making it the second highest sewer vent in Australia. The vent was orginally designed to vent acidic gases from the Perth sewerage system but it proved unsuccessful. This resulted in it's closure and sealing in the year 1941. Later that year the Police Wireless Services moved into the adjancent police station and the vent tower was put into service as a radio antenna to protected Perth against Japenese air raids. The tower was in service until 1975.

Located behind the Lincoln Street Ventilation Stakck is the Highgate Hill Police Station built in 1897.
