On January 6, 2019 three intrepid geocachers set out on a mission. Our goal was to find GC20Q84 - Adventure awaits at White Creek Falls which had not been found in four years and eight months. We felt this was a fitting way to celebrate the birthday of the cache owner, DMflyer. He is a geocaching legend in this area, and a geat human being as well.
We successfully completed our mission, uncovering the beautiful ammo can in the shadow of massive limestone cliffs and a beautiful waterfall. I had brought along a replacement cache just in case. Since the original container was found intact and in excellent condition, I decided to find a hiding spot nearby for the container I had brought.
You are seeking a plastic ammo can containing a few pieces of swag and a log book. Be certain to BYOP because I forgot to include a writing utensil.
As is typical in the woods, GPS signal is bouncy in this valley. For that reason, I am providing a spoiler pic and a good hint to help you find the cache location.
After signing the log, please replace the cache as found so that muggles will not stumble upon it. I encourage you to then make the journey on up to the amazing waterfall and log that cache as well. However, please understand that the route from this cache up to the falls is much more rugged than you have experienced on the way to this spot.
To reach this cache, you may park at the provided coords. Follow the trail to the stream crossing. Soon after that, you will see the cache location on your right across the stream. It MAY be possible to avoid stream crossings by bushwhacking directly to the cache location, but the going will be rough.
During our visit, we picked up two large garbage bags full of trash at the parking coords. This appears to be a party spot, so come prepared to do some CITO.
Happy hunting, and above all be safe out there!
