If we have time to take a longer hike, this is the area our family heads to. If we get this far back on the trail, it's fairly common we spot a deer along the way. And if we don't see an actual deer, it's not too hard to find a deer print somewhere left behind, especially in the snow. The day we placed this was no different, 4 deer muggles made sure they knew where we were placing the cache, though they agreed to provide no hints to future geocachers.
It is a decent hike from the parking area noted, about 0.8 mile one way, but can be longer depending on the trail options you take. However, it's well worth the trip. Please do not short cut through any of the neighbor's private property.
Caution: trails can be icy in winter, especially after a partial thaw that freezes up again. The further from the parking area, generally the less ice. You may want to take the upper trail off the parking area versus the one along the river, I've found there tends to be more leaves on the trail to provide some spots of traction.
Cache can be found in winter, though if we'd get a foot of snow, may really be a challenge.
