This is an Augmented Reality geocache. To play this geocache, you must download the Metaverse app available for iOS and Android. Once you have downloaded the app, open the Metaverse app on your phone, type 'Albert Park Geocache' in the 'Search Metaverse...' box.. This will load what Metaverse calls a "group". The group contains nine experiences you need to complete to reveal the final coordinates of the geocache. All waypoints and final are contained in the city block demarcating Albert Park.
You can scan this QR code to access the group:
I don't recommend you do this cache at night time. While perfectly safe in daylight, central city parks can be unsafe at night.
This cache takes about 45 minutes to complete and all experiences and the final are easily able to be reached on foot. This group contains nine individual experiences. To find the locations, tap the dot within a circle at the bottom right hand side of this cache’s AR screen. This opens up a map. You will see the icon for each location (experience) as well as a blue dot on white, which is you. When the icon for each experience turns red you can access and play the experience. You must complete a task at each location - the closer you are to the location of the experience, the easy it will be to find the information you require.
Your walk will take you to nine points of interest in the area of Albert Park. You will also meet nine early Aucklanders and learn a little about their connection to Albert Park or Auckland history. To start the cache, you MUST visit Sir George Grey at his statue first. To finish you must visit Paora Tuhaere at the Groundskeeper's Cottage last. The other experiences you may do in any order. You may do an experience multiple times if you are having trouble with it loading, or trouble with solving the question.
At each location you will receive a gift that holds a clue to unlock the final. As you can't review your inventory part way through the cache, I recommend you make a note of the information on each gift as you receive it. It will make it easier to solve the riddle at the end.
“This cache is part of an experiment that allows the use of Augmented Reality (AR) apps to find the cache. At the end of this experiment, Geocaching HQ intends to grandfather published AR caches. Geocaching HQ reserves the right to archive this cache at any time if conditions change. If you have found this cache and would like to give feedback on your experience, please fill out this survey.”
