Julius Summit 1794 metres ASL.
Named after Julius Von Haast 1822 - 1887, a Geman geologist, early explorer and founder of Canterbury Museum in Christchurch.
An often bypassed small peak on the Robert Ridge in Nelson Lakes National Park. This is just off (10 minutes) one of the main routes to Lake Angeles. Best access is from the Mt Robert carpark via the Pinchgut Track to the Robert Ridge and follow the route into Lake Angeles. You will climb to a broad saddle to the base of the peak, with a short 10 minute scramble to the summit and cache. All up it should take approx 2.5 hours from the Mt Robert carpark to GZ.

Be aware that this cache is in an alpine environment that will see snow and ice during the colder months. Even in summer this peak can attract snow. Come prepared for all seasons. Best attempted during summer but you will need plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat plus sturdy footwear. The last 100 metres to the cache are moderately steep - if this is outside of your comfort zone best leave, but should be okay for most, your choice. Cache will be near impossible in snow conditions.
Cache contains logbook only. Bring your own pen.
