Torquay Cricket Club was formed in 1851 and being only a cricket ball’s throw from the southern coast of Devon, is a truly seaside location and indeed a First Class ground. The 1st XI senior team were promoted back into the Devon Premier League in 2018 and are looking forward to being Torbay’s top team in 2019. T20 format is also well covered with two County Cup wins in the last three years. Juniors are well catered for as well, with a number of recent successes. Along with the adults, juniors continue to represent their county.
For those of you who who do not follow or understand cricket, here is a brief explanation of why this cache is called what it is. An ‘over’ is a set of six balls bowled to the batsmen at the opposite end of the pitch. If no runs are scored in a particular over, that is said to be a maiden over.
