Geocache Description:


This is the first of a series of caches that we plan on placing in Meggett County Park, a newly opened Charleston County Park.  The inspiration for this series came from a series of caches that we established on the west coast in Liberty Lake, WA, a suburb of Spokane.  Our focus was upon the Liberty that we all enjoy as Americans, especially ideas and people associated with the Revolutionary War.  We will continue with that emphasis since Charleston and South Carolina played a pivotal role in the fight for American freedom.  As our series of caches grows, we will enlarge our historical scope to other important people and events in South Carolina history.

This cache is titled  "We Hold These Truths to Be Self-Evident"

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."--Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. These are words that all Americans should reflect and contemplate.

The cache is in a small lock and lock container not far off the main trail.  The coordinates should be accurate enough to find the cache by using your geosense.  Please hide it back carefully.  Enjoy!

Meggett County Park is a newly opened country park.  There is a small entrance fee posted on the information.
