Let's Go Back to 2nd Grade Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

shoehorn26: There is an aggressive dog that lives on the other side of the fence from where this cache is hidden. It is not fair to the dog to send strangers to his/her area. I think it is best to move this cache to a more suitable location.

Geocache Description:

This geocache is not at the posted coordinates.  However, the posted coordinates would be an ideal spot to park while you go hunting for this cache.

I love being a 2nd grade teacher and a geocacher.  I thought it would be fun to put these two things together into a mystery cache.  Answer all 9 of these 2nd grade questions below to learn the coordinates of the final.

The cache can be found at N42 AB.CDE and W084 FG.HIJ

1) Math fact fluency question:  What is 2 + 2 = ?  Let that answer = A

2) Safety question: We practice three types of safety drills every year.  They are tornado, lockdown and ______________ drills.  Which drill is missing from this sentence?  Find the digital root of the missing word.  Let that = B

3) Math logical reasoning:  Ben's age is Marvin's age minus 2.  Amy's age is Ben's age minus 4.  Marvin is 12.  How old is Amy?  Let that answer = C

4) Reading question:  One of the stories in our 2nd grade reading basal is called Jamaica Tag-Along.  It was written by Juanita Havill.  If you are not familar with the story, you can easily find it on YouTube.  How many characters are in this story? (Do not count the baby in the stroller as a character).  Let that result = D

5) Grammar question:  Which word belongs in the blank?  _______________ dog ran away.

     A) There

     B) They're

     C) Their

Take the multiple choice letter only (A, B, or C) and convert it to the digial root.  Let it = E

6) Math question (elasped time):  Joey raked his leaves and his neighbor's leaves.  They both have very big yards.  He began raking at 10:30 a.m. and finally finished raking at 1:30 p.m.  Next, he went home and took a nap.  How many hours did Joey spend raking leaves?  Let that answer = F

7) Sight word question:  Find a copy of the 2nd grade Dolch Sight Words.  One of the words is RIGHT.  When you are looking at the list, which number is the word RIGHT on that list?   You should have a two digit answer.  Keep both digits and let them = GH

8) Science question:  How many moons does Mars have?  Let that number = I

9) Social Studies question:  My class loves to play President Trivia.  This question is just a fun trivia question.  The United States stopped printing the $5,000 bill in 1945.  Which president was featured on this old currency?   If you put the presidents in order by the years in which they were elected (George Washington (1), John Adams (2), . . .)  which number president was this?

If you would like to, leave one of your own 2nd grade memories in your log.  I remember my own 2nd grade teacher was a nun named Sr. Ann and I was a bit frightened of her.  I also remember I caught chicken pox in 2nd grade and had to miss a lot of school as a result.

This is my first puzzle cache. I hope you like it.  I would like to give special thanks to Periwinkle128 because they helped me iron out the problems I had with placing this cache.
