Geocache Description:

The A580 is the United Kingdom's first purpose-built intercity highway running in an almost straight alignment with few curves, it measures 29.5 miles.

The road, which remains a primary A road, was officially opened by King George V on 18 July 1934. It links Walton in Liverpool to Salford about 3 miles west of Manchester city centre.

So in celebration of this great road, that many of us have traveled along many times... here is a series of 17 caches taking you to the edge of the Manchester ring road... all caches are in laybys or very close to one.

Of course it's a long way to go so on the way back home why not take a look at the A580 Manchester to Liverpool series.
