Geocache Description:

This cache is located off Gilbert Rd.  This is a dirt road which anyone should be able to navigate all the way to the cache.  There are a few houses towards the beginning of the road once you pull off Williamsville rd, when the houses end DCR land begins.  There are signs stating this as you proceed along  do not worry, this stretch from Williamsville to the cache is open and accessible year round, though I wouldn't expect it to be plowed past the homes.  Gilbert Rd continues all the way to rt. 62. Shortly after the cache area there is a gate which will be locked from January to May. Once again you can drive, conditions permitting, all the way to cache from Williamsville rd.  Access to Gilbert Rd from rt 62 will be apparent immediately since the gate is directly at beginning of rd.  Once the gates are opened you can drive from one end to the other, though it can get quite muddy at times.  Once at the cache location there is room to turn yourself around and park as needed.

The cache area is pretty interesting.  This was once a lively corner of town. There is an old cellar hole nearby, the property is clear to see.  There is a stream crossing the yard called the Steep Gutter Branch.  I would not recommend trying to cross the remaining parts of the bridge.  On the opposite side of Gilbert Rd from this property is another cellar hole sitting in what was once an open field.

The cache is not in the cellar or any stone walls.  It may not be findable during times of deep snow.  It is a medium sized waterproof container.  It's initial contents include an unactivated FTF coin, a turtle for whoevers slow enough for STF and other swag items.  Please be aware this is DCR property, stay off the cellar holes and stone walls.  Hunting is allowed so wear blaze orange during the season, this is a popular area for hunters.

We would like to thank Mr. Justin Gonsor, Program Coordinator with the DCR for facilitating this caches placement.

Congratulations to BTisme for FTF & DelaneyLady for STF!
