Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden off the Ware River Rail Trail near the Burnshirt river.  This area of town was once a bustling center of manufacture and farms.  Obviously the railroad passed through following the valley of the Burnshirt. There were at least three mills located along the river utilizing the water power  the entire area was clear cut for farmland and only a few trees left standing, some of which seem to be still hanging on.  You can walk or bike the trail or follow Gilbert Rd.  Both stay within site of one another from rt 62 to the cache.  Near the cache the abandoned section of Fisher rd crosses both the trail and Gilbert Rd.  You will want to take Fisher down to the river.  Once you near the cache you'll see the bridge mentioned in this caches name.  It's sort of a surprise to see such a thing out here since it really leads to nowhere.  Depending on weather and the season the Burnshirt can be flowing pretty good.  This is a nice spot for exploration or a picnic.  I haven't seen any cellar holes near the bridge.  It's popular with fishermen and ATVs, though the latter technically aren't allowed here.  The path to the cache might be hard to see given which season you are here.  It does climb a slight incline up the riverbank so please be careful.

This trail and the land surrounding it are owned by DCR.  Gilbert Rd will be closed by locked gates January through May.  The rail trail is open year round.  When the gates are open you can drive from rt 62 to Williamsville rd, as well as right to the cache.  Otherwise it is about a one mile walk one way from the parking coordinates to cache.  There is another gate across Gilbert Rd about one mile off Williamsville rd, this will also be locked off season.  There are plenty of spots to investigate along both rd and trail. Most likely you will have the entire length to yourself.  Hunting is allowed on DCR land so be aware and wear blaze orange during the season.

The cache is a large size plastic container hidden somewhat differently.  Please be careful when accessing the log.  Just remove the cover, do not try to move the container itself.  Remember its only plastic. There is a pencil in the cache, log book, a little swag and an unactivated FTF coin.  Water can sometimes play with correct coordinates.  I tried averaging them to achieve most specific target.

The way to the cache is an easy walk or drive.  The path from rd to cache can be a little tricky that's why terrain rating is slightly higher

Once again this is located on DCR land so please respect all of the regulations involved.  There is a kiosk at the parking coordinates explaining the area.  We would like to thank Mr. Justin Gonsor with the DCR for helping to facilitate the placement of this cache.

Congratulations to SCOUT98 for FTF & gpscouts for STF!
