The Birthday Tree - On this hairpin corner is the Birthday tree, and nearby you will find this small geocache. The birthday tree was traditionally used to post notices for the attention of Ohariu valley residents and visitors most commonly birthdays, engagements or weddings which were written onto a chalkboard affixed to the tree. This method of communication to the residents has more recently been replaced by an online communication forum and is not as regularly in use these days but it is a very distinctive corner and you will be able to park just off the road and quickly grab this cache - watch out for muggle cars approaching from the high side with little warning ready to spot the goings on.
