Geocache Description:

What the W? - This cache is at the gateway to Ohariu Valley, a rural and pastoral area just out the back of Johnsonville and conveniently close to the CBD of the capital city of NZ. Recently a new sign welcoming visitors and residents to the valley was erected in the vicinity of this cache and as you will notice it features a W in the name Owhariu. This is not necessarily contentious because as we have seen with other regional examples around the country, most prominently Wanganui - Whanganui there is a move to correct some mispelled Maori place names, and it is probable that Owhariu is the correct historic spelling for the area. This cache is located near to the sign. May require to park a short way away and walk in... be mindful of muggles, everyone driving past will take a keen interest as to what you are doing such is the inquisitiveness of the local valley residents and passersby.
