You'll be glad you stopped here to check : " TASTE of NEW YORK WELCOM CENTER " and my other Lock 13 cache at the entrance ramp...if you have never stopped off here at this rest area..we really recommend it, its my favorite stopping point on the turnpike...as I travel it often in order to visit my folks further down along the pike in Connecticut . Bring a lunch or a snack...as, there are no food vendors and or fuel pumps here....but..of course, of general interest is checking out the mini museum and canal LOCK nearby.
Check this..
A copy of one of the better logs about this rest stop :.... We are from Michigan, heading home after a New England geocaching adventure. This is probably the nicest rest area we have ever visited (and we have driven throughout all of the US except for Alaska!) Really nice kids playground, dog walk areas, and well-done historical displays about the adjacent Erie Canal (and lock). Thanks for bringing us here...and thanks for the cache!
On the way out, you will find this cache itself..easy quick find practically drive right up to it...in summer flip flops ok in winter 4 or so feet of snow not a problem !! ?
