This is the next in my series of caches in BARRhaven parks that were hitherto BARRen of caches. Due to my emBARRassing abuse of BARRhaven founder Mel BARR’s good name, and BARRing an uproar of protest, it will also be the last.
The first steps in finding the coordinates of the cache involve identifying the 2-to-6-word phrases containing “barrel” that best match clues 1 to 11 below:
1. no way out (3 words)
2. don’t look down it (2 words)
3. twice as lethal (2 words)
4. possibly kosher? (2 words)
5. roll it out (2 words)
6. lots of chuckles (3 words)
7. everything (4 words)
8. easy, peasy (5 words)
9. forge ahead (2 words)
10. making do (6 words)
11. no credit (4 words)
Then convert the letters in your answers to numbers, using A=1, B=2 … Z=26. Total the values of all the letters in your answers (a.k.a. alpha-sum) and divide this total by 1000. Add 4.773 to this number to get the last four digits of the North coordinates of a special BARRhaven location and add 2.825 to this number to get the last four digits of this special place’s West coordinates.
The name of this special place should conjure up a “barrel” activity (2 words) and an important “barrel” person (two words). Determine the alpha-sum of these four words and subtract 0.0001205 times this number from the last four digits of the special location’s W coordinates to get the last four digits of the cache’s W coordinates.
Then, multiply the previously determined alpha-sum by the number of times the “barrel activity” conjured up by the special place’s name has been held in conjunction with an attempt by someone to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. Add 0.0003548 times this number to the last four digits of the special place’s N coordinates to get the last four digits of the cache’s N coordinates.
