The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates! The posted coordinates will lead you to a spot near the Veteran's Memorial Park. There you will find some signs, including one with a map of the Napa Valley Vine Trail. Use the clues on those signs, and what you see near and in the park, and in the write up below to figure out the final coordinates. The cache is a short walk away on a paved pathway.
Welcome to the Vine Trail!
The Napa Valley Vine Trail is a 47-mile walking/biking trail system connecting the entire Napa Valley. It starts at the Vallejo Ferry Terminal and winds its way north to Calistoga along Hwy 29. The trail is organized into 10 sections, each named for the city or AVA (American Viticultural Area) region it passes through: Vallejo, American Canyon, Los Carneros, City of Napa/Coombsville, Oak Knoll District, Yountville, Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena, and Calistoga.
The Vine Trail was begun in 2008; only some sections are currently complete. The most notably complete section is from Kennedy Park in Napa to Yountville, a stretch of 12.5 miles. The entire project is estimated to cost about $50 million. Fundraising events and capital donations will provide some of the funding. To date, $12 million in federal and state funds have been appropriated.
