Welcome to the 10th of the Exford Trios series, Three Stooges. The Three Stooges were an American slapstick comedy team active from the late 1930s until the late 1960s. The team consisted of two core members, Moe and Larry, and four others, Shemp, Curly, Joe, and Curly Joe moving in and out of the act due to the incapacity of other members, always making a trio. Would I consider keeping gloves and/or a claw in your Geo kit bag for caches like this? Yes. Yes, I would.
Members of the Three Stooges were:
Moses Harry Horwitz, known professionally as Moe Howard (Stooge name: Moe. NB. Moe is pronounced Moh, not Moh-E like the name of the town in eastern Victoria). An original member.
Louis Feinberg, known professionally as Larry Fine, (Stooge name: Larry). An original member. Left the act because of illness.
Samuel Horwitz, known professionally as Shemp Howard, (Stooge name: Shemp). An original member, left the act, then returned to replace Curly.
Jerome Lester Horwitz, known professionally as Curly Howard, (Stooge name: Curly) Replaced Shemp then left because of illness. This combination of stooges is generally considered the funniest.
Joe Besser, (Stooge name: Joe). Replaced Shemp. Left because he wasn't as popular as was hoped.
Joseph Wardell, known professionally as Joe DeRita (Stooge name: Curly Joe). Replaced Joe.
To complicate things a little bit, after Larry suffered a debilitating stroke leaving him unable to work, the last original Stooge, Moe, asked long-time Three Stooges supporting actor Emil Sitka to replace Larry, but this final line-up of Moe, Curly Joe and Emil Sitka never progressed beyond publicity photos and they never recorded any material. These notes are not intended to be comprehensive, and do not include any information about the Three Stooges' time with Ted Healy and his Stooges (1928–34).
This is a regular-sized cache, with space for a log, a pencil and a some treasures. There is enough space to park on the road verge, but as always, please be safe. The original cache was archived in January 2019 because the cactus bush that was its cover had been poisoned (along with all the other cactus bushes along the road) and withered in size, so was no longer effective. The Mk 2 version is exactly the same container and log but has a better location.
